What do you consider sacred space? An altar, a location, or a space within your heart or mind where you can go whenever you need it? Sacred space can be created wherever you are. Deep within your mind or heart, a corner in an airport, a table within a Cafe, or on your taxi cab journey. Let's take the preconceptions out of our programed beliefs and reboot ourselves.

Traveling in sacred space

Recently I found myself traveling on the longest day of the year. The winter Solstice. Amongst the chaos of the long days travel all I wanted was that sacred space to create and clear my mind. Here are three things you can do to create a sacred space when traveling.

1. Surrender to exactly where you are. Take a breathe and find a semi quiet place or something inviting and peaceful to the eye.

2. Close your eyes and think of your internal space. Breathe into that space with four to five breathes. Deepen your breathing and slowing your breathe each time you inspire and exhale. Take those monkey mind thoughts and let them pass like clouds in the sky. Let your body be in presence fully aware of everything, annoying, funny, kind, and human about your experience. Bring yourself into your body fully and allow your internal space to expand.

3. Bring one peaceful thought, idea, or happy memory into this space. Can you feel what the space is bringing you? Sunshine warmth, wind blowing through your hair, wild birds chirping into the forest. Use your internal senses and reach out to create a sacred space within your body. Allow as much expansion as you can.

When your ready take three deep breathes and bring yourself back to the world around you. Put your hands on your heart and a smile to your face. Feel that smile and honor the sacred space and time you created for yourself today.

You are beautiful.

You are sacred.

You are worth it.
